Branding + Design for International Climate Summit 2021
Overview
The first edition of the International Climate Summit was held in New Delhi, India in 2021, and the focus of the summit was on India’s emerging hydrogen potential. A PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) event, it was held in association with Invest India, the national investment promotion and facilitation agency in India, and Innovation Norway, the Norwegian government’s agency for development of enterprises and industry. Norway was the Country Partner. The summit saw active support from Team Norway, Norwegian businesses and several Indian government bodies such as Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Department of Scientific & Industrial Research, and Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Power, Petroleum & Natural Gas, Coal and MSME, Government of India.
Project Goals
The significance of this summit was to put the spotlight on India as an emerging global hub for green hydrogen. Additionally, it also created a platform for advancing collaboration between Norway and India in the realms of hydrogen and green technologies. Regarded as one of the most environmentally friendly fuels for both transportation and power generation, hydrogen plays a vital role in India’s ambitious plan to achieve a 450 GW capacity of renewable energy by 2030. In alignment with this green initiative, the Indian Government has introduced the National Hydrogen Mission 2021-22. Simultaneously, Norway has unveiled a ‘hydrogen strategy’ focused on fostering the creation of innovative low-emission technologies and solutions.
Key Deliverables
Our founding partners in association with our advisory partner SSARMA Consults, played a central role in conceptualising and crafting the event theme, branding, and identity. We successfully created the ICS 2021 website, produced a knowledge book and event brochure, and designed various collaterals for the summit. Additionally, we were entrusted with the mandate for public relations activation and management for the event, encompassing pre-event, during-event, and post-event coverage across print, television, and digital platforms.
Our Approach
Collaborative, creative and clinical in our approach, we aligned our design thinking with subject experts to gain a deeper understanding of their objectives, end goals and outcomes. Subsequently, our team drew upon its diverse expertise to conceptualise and design the master identity for the event, define its positioning as ‘Powering India’s Hydrogen Ecosystem,’ and produce the complete set of deliverables. The ICS 2021 identity combines modern graphic elements against a primary colour palette inspired by nature and nordic influences. The spartan and minimal look combined universal symbols of climate, environment and more specifically green hydrogen, that are easy to comprehend and in sync with the theme of the summit. The graphics specifically, represent solar energy, hydro power, and green energy. All designs were developed keeping in mind a cross-continental audience. From inception of the theme to development of brand identity, website, and collateral design, we maintained a seamless and cohesive approach throughout every project phase. Taking charge of essential ground management aspects, including public relations, we meticulously handled media coverage through a team of experts, ensuring presence across mainstream print, television, and digital platforms.
Result
With over 500 delegates physically present and an additional 35,000+ registered attendees participating virtually from around the world, ICS 2021 achieved resounding success, setting the stage for an annual conclave that alternates between venues in India and Norway.
