Overview
SFLC.in holds deep legal expertise on surveillance, privacy and digital freedoms. The brief was to turn that expertise into something a general audience would watch to the end and pass on.
Goals
- Translate legal argument into narrative
- Reach audiences beyond the digital rights community
- Hold accuracy while cutting complexity
- Produce a format usable across campaign moments
Deliverables
- Script development with the legal team
- Art direction and motion design
- Film production and post
- Distribution cutdowns
Approach
We worked directly with SFLC.in’s lawyers to find the smallest number of ideas that could carry the argument, then built the film around those rather than around the full case. Everything else went into supporting material.
Result
A film used across campaign, education and advocacy contexts, with cutdowns for social and event use.
