Branding + Art for Center of Excellence for Hydrogen (CoE-H)

Overview

The Center of Excellence for Hydrogen (CoE-H) was conceived as an Indo-Norwegian Global Competence Center for Green Hydrogen; a collaborative platform uniting government institutions, industries, research bodies, and academia from both Norway and India. The purpose was to accelerate the transition to a clean energy future by fostering innovation, research, and knowledge exchange in the field of green hydrogen.

Project Goals

CoE-H was set up in 2021 as a premier forum for dialogue, research, and collaboration on green hydrogen technologies. The platform connects key stakeholders through a structured membership network, enabling:

  • Knowledge sharing and expert-led discussions on hydrogen markets and policies
  • Joint research and technology development between Indian and Norwegian partners
  • Training programs, workshops, and policy inputs for governments and industry leaders
  • Support for national and international hydrogen initiatives through collaboration with the Norwegian Hydrogen Cluster

In essence, CoE-H served as a hub that bridges scientific innovation, policy, and industry action toward a sustainable hydrogen economy

Key Deliverables

Our founding partners in association with our advisory partner SSARMA Consults, played a pivotal role in defining and visualising the CoE-H brand identity. Our team conceptualised and delivered:

  • A complete visual identity system, including logo, colour palette, and design language inspired by hydrogen’s elemental purity and the collaboration between India and Norway
  • A modern website that communicates CoE-H’s mission, programs, and activities with clarity and visual impact
  • Custom art, illustrations and iconography that simplify complex scientific ideas and lend a distinctive, future-forward aesthetic
  • Infographics and visual storytelling assets used in digital outreach, presentations, and events

Our design approach ensured that the CoE-H brand reflects both technological sophistication and environmental optimism.

Our Approach

We began by benchmarking international hydrogen initiatives to understand CoE-H’s positioning within the global energy ecosystem. From there, we developed a visual narrative framework that merged scientific precision with accessibility; blending elements of clean energy, molecular structures, and Nordic minimalism with art.

The tagline suggested by us “Make A Start. Play Your Part.” captured the urgency of environmental action and clean energy solutions, while cleverly weaving “art” into the wordplay to create a deeper connection with the design language and overall theme.

Our process involved close collaboration with researchers and policymakers to ensure every visual element supported CoE-H’s communication goals: from awareness to engagement. The website architecture was designed to be modular and scalable, enabling CoE-H to grow its digital footprint as new partnerships and research outputs emerge.

Result

The result was a cohesive and impactful digital identity that positions CoE-H as a credible, forward-thinking institution in the global hydrogen space.
The website and branding assets strengthened the organisation’s visibility, enabling it to attract international partners, promote its initiatives effectively, and communicate its expertise with clarity and confidence. The project also paved the way for several new initiatives across the Indian subcontinent, bridging academic, scientific, and policy efforts in green energy. CoE-H in its final form stood out as a visual and strategic benchmark for collaborative clean-energy platforms. A testament to the power of design in amplifying purpose-driven innovation.
