Overview

Software Freedom Law Center, India (SFLC.in) is a leading non-profit legal services organisation working to protect digital rights and promote online freedom. For more than 15 years, it has worked across free speech, privacy, security and access to knowledge through legal advocacy, research, technology and policy.

We were commissioned to document their journey and impact into a short digital film that could capture the significance of their work and make it accessible to a wider global audience.

Approach

We began by mapping SFLC.in’s history, milestones and areas of impact, working closely with the team to identify the story beneath the institutional narrative.

The resulting script used technology, law and human freedom as the connecting thread, translating complex digital-rights issues into a concise visual narrative. Bold typography, dynamic motion, animation and an evocative score created a pace and tone that balanced urgency with optimism.

The film was designed to work as both an introduction to SFLC.in and a statement of why digital freedom matters.

Result

A 2:55-minute film that distilled 15+ years of digital-rights advocacy into a clear, compelling story. Launched alongside SFLC.in’s recognition with the EFF Award 2025, the film gave audiences a concise and accessible window into the organisation’s work and purpose.
