Overview
Women Deliver is a global advocacy organisation working to advance gender equality and the health, rights and voices of girls and women worldwide.
For the Women Deliver 2023 Conference + Arts and Film Festival in Kigali, Rwanda, our founding partner Greeshma Chauhan created Acts of Courage, an original artwork exploring the complex relationship between the self and the body, and the social structures that shape both.
The work was selected as part of a curated international showcase of artists and filmmakers engaging with issues of gender, identity and social change

Approach
Acts of Courage explores the moments of friction, negotiation and reconciliation between the self and the body.
The work considers how both are shaped by an external social order that demands compliance, asking where individual agency begins and where imposed expectations end. Rather than offering a single answer, the artwork creates space for the viewer to confront these tensions through their own interpretation
Result
Acts of Courage was selected for a curated showcase of international artists and exhibited at the Women Deliver 2023 Conference + Arts and Film Festival at the Kigali Convention Centre, Rwanda, from 17–20 July 2023.
